Bio:
When Stella was just 5 years old she pestered her mother into giving her piano lessons and continued studying Classical Piano till she obtained the Grade 7th Certificate for Classical Pianist. Then, just for fun, she turned her attention to Pop Music, teaching herself guitar and forming a band with some friends in secondary school. She never considered singing as a career.
In a mood to try something different, she came across an advertisment for the Cover Girl of the Year contest, held annually by "GO" magazine in Singapore. She won, and her modeling career was launched. Assignments included: McDonald's Pooh Bear Promotional TVC; "Shanghai Underwater World" promotional TVC and Pokka Carrot Juice TVC.
Singaporan record company, Hype, took notice and approached her with a recording contract, an ironic twist of fate for the young singer-songwriter who had all but abandoned her musical career.
Within 3 months of signing the recording contract, she penned an impressive 40 songs, 8 were picked for her 2001 debut album, Wait . |
